Who we are

COUP - Committee of Unilever Pensioners - is the only independent organisation representing the many former employees of the company now receiving pensions from the Unilever UK Pension Fund or due to receive them when they retire.

What we do

FROM time to time COUP meets with senior Unilever UK executives to discuss matters relevant both to our members, all the company's pensioners and those due to receive pensions in the future.

Also of considerable importance is our membership of two bodies who campaign nationally of behalf of the many millions of pensioners in the UK. These organisations are recognised both by the government and all political parties and our officers have twice been among delegations who have met pensions' minister Steve Webb to protest against the move to Consumer Prices Index (CPI) and also the impact government cuts will have on rural bus routes and care for the elderly.

Through these bodies we have put forward our views to the government concerning the use of CPI rather than the more relevant Retail Prices Index (RPI) for the annual increases in the state pension.

Again through our membership of one of them, we are party to legal advice should an employer try to get trustees to change the rules of its pension scheme from the Retail Price Index (RPI) to CPI.
